Wooden Hearts

I love having poem battles :) Its been forever since I have dated a man who could write an interesting poem! We seem to inspire each other:

From him:

My heart is made of wood.
The hardest you can find.
The beating that it took,
turned the golden into wood.
Now, it does still bend,
but not always when it should.
So be careful with my heart,
don't bend it like a twig.
One day I will find a wizard
and turn wood back to gold.
You set my heart aflame,
but the flames cause no pain.
As the wood is charred away
and my life seems drained away.
You put your finger on that spot
and gave me back the gold.
In this heart I'm not alone,
because it is not just my own.
I share this heart with you,
because two wooden ones made one gold.

From me:
Your heart was turned to wood
and mine was black as night
I needed something good
then you came into my life
at first the black was stubborn
and stained I thought it was
until it felt your fire burn
i didn't know that it could love.
in the flicker of your eyes
i see your wood turn to ash
and what is left behind
is love that's meant to last.
if you look behind the blue
you will see the black is gone
and in its place a view
of the battle that's been won.

Nice. That could be a song, even. One of those duets that is overplayed and cheesy. All together now - awwwww. And that's the way I like it.
