New To Me Show Find
Sooo apparently I'm a little morbid. I have come to terms with it. Since Bones is off season and I've seen all the episodes up to date I have now started on a new old show that I always wanted to watch but it was on HBO!
Six Feet Under is a crazy, sad, funny, dark, shocking, in-your-face show that had me from the get go. The first episode is hilarious and so sad. I laughed and cried I'm not even kidding!!
The gist of the show is this: A family business funeral home in a small town loses its patriarch and main operator of the home in a car accident. The accident involves the brand new hearse that he just bought and a bus that he didn't see because he was leaning down to light the cigarette his wife just called to tell him not to smoke. There is also an in-the-closet brother who is co-operator of the home (his boyfriend is an impossibly gorgeous black police officer) and a bum brother who was on his way in to visit for a week from Seattle and meets (and is screwing in a broom closet at the airport) a random woman from his plane trip when he gets the call his dad is dead. Throw in a rebellious, fiery teenage daughter who is taking a hit of crystal meth for the first time to make her boyfriend happy (she doesn't make a habit of it) when she gets the call that she has to go to the hospital to help her mother identify the body. The mother is a farmer's wife type who is a control freak and who had been having an affair with a male hairdresser for the past year all the while playing the stoic wife and caregiver.
What I like about this show is that they go to where most shows hadn't dared go: reality. The scenarios are realistic, the people have real lives instead of fairy tale ones, and there is a lot of sarcasm and wit. The father's ghost sticks around and makes snarky comments here and there which really keeps it interesting, and there isn't any gore. Even though its about a funeral home, its not like Bones where you see gristly details of the dead bodies (although i like that stuff too lol). Has anyone else seen this show? I haven't really heard much about it before I just knew instinctively that I wanted to see it!

Six Feet Under is one of my all-time favorite shows! I own all five seasons on DVD. A couple of seasons are so-so, but overall, the entire run is brilliant! Have you reached the end of it yet? Wait until you watch the finale!
I've only watched 4 episodes (getting it on Netflix) and Everytime one episode ends I am like "Wait don't be over yet!!!' I can't wait to watch more tonight :) I can't believe I'd never heard of it before now.
