The Latest

Sorry I haven't blogged much lately. My internet access at work which is where/when I do most of my slacker blogging was corrupted by something and I haven't gotten to use it all week. At home I am consumed by spending time with the kids, Kris, or hanging out with Becca and her brood.

You see the GMCR logo up there because I have decided to try like hell to get a job there for when I'm done at IBM (or sooner...). Unfortunately it doesn't look good for me getting a loan for enough to start up a business. I don't understand, because I am a person who believes in God, believes in listening to her inner thoughts and feelings, and yet it seems like this was dangled mentally like a carrot on a stick and yet is unattainable. It felt so right and so many things were already in place. I am very sad about this. Hopefully I just need patience and something will present itself that will lend to me still being able to do it.

I was dreadfully ill last week. I had to miss 2 full work days which ate up all of my vacation/PTO so I could not go on with applying for the Women's Small Business Center's course. It started on Jan 31st and would have been 2 times a week from 5:30 to 7:30. I had planned to use the rest of my vacation time to leave early to attend the classes but now that is not possible. There is another course in the fall as it is a semester long class. In March is a seminar called "Getting Serious" that I may try to enroll in depending on cost.

I started an exercise plan to try to get into shape.

I am going to do 2 15-20 min. of intense physical exercise such as running or elliptical for 4 days a week, and on the other 3 I am going to do 60 minutes of walking or slow movement on the elliptical. If I can get to the gym a couple of days a week then I can also use the machines and weights. I am so flabby its disgusting me, making me feel bad about myself, and affecting my relationship with Kris (on my side).

My therapist suggested I look into being a personal trainer since I was able to answer every question or thought she had when talking about her own body. She said her doctor couldn't even give her an answer about why she had grown 1/2 inch at 48 years old. I told her that most likely since she was eating healthier and drinking more water that the discs in her spine had plumped up enough to make a 1/2" difference. She also didn't know that childhood obesity can bring an onset (and onslaught in a community) of girls getting their periods at the age of 8 or 9 because estrogen is stored in the fat cells of the body and the more fat you have, the more estrogen you store, which eventually triggers your body into thinking that you have reached an age that you should begin menstruating. I only know these things because I've read a lot about them and I absorb this kind of knowledge easily for some reason. But being a personal trainer...I don't know if I qualify for that. Maybe with some schooling.

The great thing about GMCR if I get that job is that it is only on Friday through Sunday for 10 hours a day, and I would be able to either get a second job, stay home with the kids on school days, or go back to school. I would like to stay home with the kids through the summer, start back at school when Alex starts in the fall, and then when Alicia starts school the following year, hopefully I would have a 2 year degree in something and could get a different job and/or start the business. Kris doesn't get done for 2 more years so it would be great to be done at the same time he is.

Ok I'm off to exercise now. Wish me luck.

Good luck at GMCR!

Chris' cousin is a personal trainer (and his cousin is a gym teacher) - I can ask how she was trained, if you want. I think you would make a really good personal trainer, if that is something you are interested in... you worked at a gym before, would you be interested into looking into that as a part time job (especially if you get the job at GMCR)? Just a thought.

Good luck working out, too. I have recently resumed working out more vigorously than the yoga I have been doing for so long. I love yoga, but I need to work on doing more cardio..

As far as not being able to do your own business right now, don't get discouraged. Let the idea ruminate and grow, see what comes of it in the future.

I hope you get the GMCR thing! :)

Being a personal trainer isn't that hard to achieve, it seems like any one who is just interested in fitness can be one down here. There are gyms every 10 feet, so that makes a diff.

Def check it out for PT work!

I pray that a job at GMCR would work out, for sure....and yeah, if you are into the personal trainer thing, I think you should go for it too!!

Sorry to hear about you not able to get enough loan money for the business, etc. But please don't give up entirely...on that, or other things in life.

I want to share this with you, and whomever else might read it, too. This came from a coworker of mine last week, in one of those 'pass this on for good luck' or whatever emails. I didn't pass it along for that, but the message itself was GREAT. Here it is (and I truly TRULY believe it!! if not, who knows where I'd be right now!):

"When God takes something from your grasp, He's not punishing you, but merely opening your hands to receive something better. The Will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you."

I pray things go as it is God's will...God Bless!
