My Sanctuary

I can't go to church. I mean, I can but every time I do I start to cry. Uncontrollably. So you can imagine that it is very embarassing and unappealing to attend services. Its been like this since my boyfriend killed himself 7 years ago.
I have found a place to pray though and to reflect and listen to God. The cemetery near my house is the one place I feel comfortable doing those things. There is this humongous Crucifix at the end of a dirt road flanked by oak trees with a background of mountains and sky. It is so peaceful there and usually I can kneel and find solace there.

Where I kneel is a patterned stone platform

That's weird, because I cry in church, too. And not just during certain parts! It is like the whole notion of being in church just brings all this emotion that's been repressed. I think it also comes from not being able to express your feelings in church. The one we went to was so methodical (methodist!) You need to scream and shout and let Him know what's on your mind!!!

Those are very cool pictures, by the way. I would like a framed one of the Crucifix up close. How big is it (pixels?) You should combine the top two as a package and sell them on Etsy for cheap. People would love to have them. Good job!

Hey girl ~

I'm glad you have found a place to go like that...it definitely helps to talk to Him and tell our Father in Heaven how things are, how you feel, etc etc. and yes, those photos ARE quite cool. Good job, indeed - just like your sis said : ) and ooooo, Sarah, a good idea...Betsy probably COULD combine the top two pix and sell them as a package on Etsy. Nice : )

Thanks girls I didn't even purposely put those two together haha
I think those pictures were taken with 3 megapixels, not sure the size of the originals but I do still have them in the original size. I used a focus adjustment on Picasa for the crucifix.
If I make prints I'll let ya know :) Your birthday is coming sis...!!
