I Saw Cloverfield

I love Amazon.com. I wanted to buy this movie (never had seen it before) when it came out but it was 20$!! I waited a few weeks and there it was on Amazon for about 5$ total with shipping! Used? Who cares! We watched it last night and I can say that I hadn't seen any spoilers or anything and had no clue what it was about. The first 20 minutes or so were boring as hell, and you were wondering what the point was and when the action was going to start. Just as I said to Kris, "When is something interesting going to happen?" is when suddenly something did! I don't want to ruin it for anyone, but I will say that I don't really love the hand held camera thing much, even though it did save it from being a super cheesy monster movie. The monster itself was NOT cheesy if you can believe that. You spend most of the time trying to figure out just what the heck it actually looks like! There are lots of unexpected twists and a lot of times where you say, "How can they survive that and be up and running like that??" It has a bit of an anti-climactic ending that left us both saying "WTF??"

I give it a B-.

We went to see it in the theatre, and I also avoid almost all trailers, I just hate that they spoil soooo much. I thought it was really good, and though the handheld thing got old, it wouldn't really have worked any other way. Did you watch all the way to the end?

They are making a sequel, which I am not sure really needs to happen, but *sigh*. Inevitable, I suppose.
