"Pissed" Off

Fluffy 1
The issue: finding PISS in random places in both the kitchen/dining area (tile floor) and guest downstairs bathroom (laundry area also, and where the litter boxes are located). Its at the point now where if ANY thing is left on top of the washer/dryer it is going to get pissed on. One of them also peed in a plant that was on the bathroom sink counter. Someone (I think its Sunny) pees in the crack between the washer/dryer, IN the washer itself if its left open, and on any clothing stacked on the dryer. He peed on the dryer sheet box that was up there yesterday.

This morning was the last straw. Alex had discarded his backpack on the floor near the garage door on Friday when he got home. It lay there mostly unnoticed for the weekend. I saw Fluffy II sleeping on it on Saturday and didn't really think much of it. Last night when I came downstairs I could feel/smell that the air had a musky quality to it. I looked down and saw the backpack. I picked it up and inhaled and UGH yep that was it. There was pee INSIDE it somehow also. I had to throw out his folder and some of the papers in it. I washed the backpack and I think its ok, but what if I hadn't noticed it? Can you imagine how badly he would have gotten picked on for smelling like piss??

Hmmmm... I have been having cat pee issues lately, too... though this was (I believe) Woody deciding that the Guest bed on the floor was a litter box, and also my little sheepskin rugs (Loved those things, from IKEA, but seriously, they went in the garbage). I'm going to have to throw out the mattress (it was old, it's not a huge loss), and I have all of the doors downstairs closed for now, so that the cats (I really would be shocked if this was Sam) can't do any more damage.. Woody also likes to pee in the corner next to the litter box. It's a damned good thing he's so cute.
What I did was bought a huge bottle of Nature's Miracle from Petco. I've been spraying the corner by the litter box (and will spray down the floor downstairs, though it's cement, so it shouldn't be too bad), and when I get a chance, I'm going to move the cabinet that's there to get under it to get rid of all cat scent.
The girl at Petco said that most times when cats pee in random places, it's because of stress or some other unhappiness. She recommended this stuff called Good Cat (which of course they were out of, but I might check out another time, if he doesn't stop) http://www.petco.com/product/6441/Good-Cat.aspx
If you have the $$, I would also bring Sunny (you are pretty sure it's him?) to the vet to make sure nothing is wrong with him. Sometimes such marking is an indication of a problem... don't know, though.
I would try the Good Cat. The Nature's miracle seems to work really well, too. It's got an enzyme that kills the smell.
Thing is, once something smells like cat pee, the other cats think it's ok to pee there, too. Ugh.
I do feel your pain, it's so hard. Woody was peeing on any coat that got left on the floor last fall. that was pleasant. And yeah, I'm pretty sure it was Woody.
Good luck!
Thank you for all the suggestions! Unfortunately he peed in the dryer's lint trap vent so he is going in the Free Press today in the free section :( I am bummed but I now can't do laundry and that is unacceptable. Fluffy II is also a suspect in some of the pissings but I think that he will stop if he did indeed start once Sunny is gone. No hard evidence for that one!
Love Betsy
Yuck about the lint trap! Hope that Sunny finds a new home where he can be the only kitty and doesn't have to mark everything - and maybe try that Good Cat stuff to stop any further peeing from the others?
Love you, miss you terribly.. will you be able to come to Philip's birthday party this coming weekend? I think I sent you an evite... he doesn't need anything, so it's just your presence that we would love!
I think I will be able to come to his party...I have the day off of course! I have the kids also. I'll say yes I'll be there :)
